Biography

In August 1982 I was awarded a Fellowship to travel to the USA to examine various aspects relating to the care, storage, display and archival preservation of American photographic collections.

During my study tour I had the great privilege to visit a large range of major photographic galleries, art museums, auction houses and other institutions in New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington DC including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Rhode Island School of Design, the International Centre of Photography, the New York Museum of Modern Art, Time Picture Gallery, the Philadelphia Museum of Modern Art (Alfred Stieglitz Centre), Sotheby Parke-Bernet, the Library of Congress, the Archives of American Art, the Smithsonian Institute, Time Magazine, Kathleen Ewing Gallery, Lunn Gallery, Swann Galleries and Sander Gallery.

During this period, I was employed as Senior Technical Assistant within the Photography Department, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee having been awarded a higher diploma in creative photography (London College of Printing, 1975). Now retired, I remain fascinated in the evolution of photography past, present and future.
