Biography
I am currently the Executive Director of Nursing, AHPs and Quality for Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. I have worked in the NHS for over 35 years with an established nursing career, including education roles, management roles and latterly executive board-level director roles. I received the Inspirational Leader award from the Leadership Academy in 2014 and was shortlisted for Clinical Leader in the Health Service Journal in 2017. I received an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2018.
In 2015 I received a Fellowship to explore end-of-life care, palliative care and integrated care systems. I chose to go to New Zealand as it had just invested a considerable amount of money in its hospice system and had also turned around a disaster into a learning. This disaster (an earthquake in 2011) meant that New Zealand needed to think differently about the delivery of care and how to work together across different systems.
I am really passionate about end-of-life care, having experienced very different outcomes from both family members and patients.
