Biography
I'm a creative producer and housing professional with over 20 years' experience in social housing and more than a decade in the arts. My Fellowship explores how arts and cultural practice can strengthen belonging, identity and social cohesion in social housing and neighbourhood settings. My motivation comes from leading an emergency evacuation, when a resident told me that, now she was out of the tower block, she finally had a social life. That moment made me realise how deeply our built environment shapes connection, and how many people live side by side without ever really knowing one another.
Through my project, Know Your Neighbour, I want to explore how creativity can help people feel more connected both to the places in which they live and to each other. I will travel to Australia, New Zealand and Denmark to learn from innovative community-led arts and placemaking projects. By bringing back practical ideas and approaches, I hope to help reimagine shared spaces on UK estates as places of creativity, pride and everyday connection, supporting more inclusive and resilient communities.
