Biography

I am a strategic health facilitator, working in a healthcare partnerships lead role with a third sector organisation and delivering wellbeing programmes within my business, The Wellbeing Pathway. With a career journey and professional qualifications in community development and health, I am committed to reducing health inequalities and improving wellbeing outcomes for individuals and communities.

The focus of my Fellowship is supporting dementia carers in rural communities. My motivation for this project is both personal and professional. Supporting my dad as the main carer for my mum who is living with an Alzheimer's diagnosis has brought home to me the challenges and barriers to good health for older carers, particularly those in more rural communities. Combined with my professional work across health and social care, I have seen the negative impact that a caring role can have, with individuals often isolated and lacking in understanding or ability to ask for help or to help themselves.

I hope by my research work in Sweden and with other opportunities through the Fellowship to share good practice examples and create longer-lasting impact through partnerships.
