Biography
I work part-time as a film tutor and external examiner for higher education film courses.
My Fellowship was to research initiatives in France and Canada which supported women film-makers. I had been involved in setting up the Women's Film and Television Network in London and wanted to expand from that. I had also directed and produced a few short films myself.
During my Fellowship I attended women's film festivals in Creteil (near Paris) and Montreal and met with women from film production groups. My Fellow's Report proposed the formation of a production umbrella for women film-makers as at that time the representation of women in film was seriously limited and limiting.
After my Fellowship I moved into teaching film production, becoming course leader for the BA (Hons) Film Production course at UCA Farnham and Chair of the National Association of Higher Education in the Moving Image (NAHEMI).
The Fellowship was a wonderful opportunity to travel and meet like-minded people and learn from them. It was an unforgettable experience.
