At the age of 18 I travelled to Canada and Peru to work with researchers to investigate the ethnobotanical potential of flora and fauna in the Manu Biosphere Reserve in the Peruvian Amazon. I researched and identified the natural medicinal properties of plants in the rainforest. This involved working with indigenous communities, mapping the distribution of medicinal and useful plants in Manu National Park, as well as visiting indigenous Andean communities in villages to speak to people about their reliance on medicinal plants in their rainforest.

During this time and while embarking on my Fellowship, I led Canopy to Cures, a student-run science education project for schools which stemmed out of my scientific research in the Amazon.

In 2013, I was selected as one of only 40 young people to join the New Entrepreneurs Foundation. I now run a trade finance fintech company (Trade Finance Global), with a focus on sustainable trade and development finance.
