Biography
I am a sustainability engineer and Founder of Elevate, working at the intersection of construction innovation and equitable housing. My Fellowship draws on 20 years' professional experience and the personal revelation of building our family's sustainable custom-build home. This demonstrated how resident-led design delivers better quality and lower carbon outcomes.
This research addresses a striking disparity: while Sweden and Germany deliver nearly half their new homes through custom-build models that harmonise factory efficiency with genuine choice, the UK achieves less than 1 in 10. I'll investigate the policy frameworks, supply chain and platform-based manufactured systems enabling this success abroad, with particular focus on replicable community engagement models. This mission seeks practical transformation. I'll create a visual toolkit to help policymakers, builders and residents rethink what's possible. With the UK's housing crisis at a tipping point, we urgently need models that are both scalable and human-centred.
