Biography
I am now retired but was the head of King Edward VI Handsworth School for 23 years.
My Fellowship in 1980 was while I was teaching at Nottingham High School for Girls and combined my two loves – geography and walking. I led the first all-girls' expedition to Iceland, then not a major tourist destination. I became involved in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme expeditions for many years, led a subsequent expedition and also helped in a cub pack.
I think the Fellowship enabled me to receive two subsequent job promotions. I still feel very honoured to have been selected.
