Biography
My Fellowship gave me a much better understanding of the transport needs of disabled people and the ways in which various European countries were already making life so much easier for them. I was able to put this into practice in my local authority area and then on a wider UK basis through membership of the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee from 1996 to 2009, where I chaired the Personal Mobility Committee. This was followed by five years' service with the Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland, culminating in provisions made for athletes and spectators at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Now long retired from regular work, I still actively pursue the transport interests of disabled people in my local area.
