Biography

I am a grower and consultant working in the commercial horticulture sector, supporting the development of local sustainable supply chains and new entrant enterprises. I'm the Horticulture Development Officer for Tyfu Cymru, a Lantra-led project providing business support and training to over 500 commercial growers in Wales. We work closely with growers both in the edible and ornamental sectors and provide data and observations to Welsh Government and stakeholder organisations.

I am also the business Founder and Grower at Backyard Organics, a micro-sized nursery providing organic plugs and plants to gardeners and commercial growers in mid and south Wales.

My Fellowship has been fundamental in the development of both my professional and personal achievements over the past five years. During my travels to the USA, I was fortunate to visit nearly 30 farms and organisations whilst researching how to use an urban landscape to sustainably localise the food system. This experience gave me a greater 'on the ground' understanding of challenges in our current food system which has informed my work since returning.
