Biography

I am the Director of Service Development and Improvement at Together for Short Lives.

I am a children's nurse with 21 years of clinical experience and nine years working in higher education. My PhD was a grounded theory of place bonding, representing the cognitive journey for parents of children with life-limiting conditions when considering or receiving hospice services for their child.

In 2020, I was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to travel across Canada to visit children's hospitals, hospices and universities exploring how education and practice in children's palliative care are linked, and continue my work in understanding attachment theory in children's palliative care settings. Unfortunately the pandemic delayed this work.

In March 2021 I took up my current position at Together for Short Lives. I will be concentrating on developing programmes for families and professionals that improve the quality and access to children's palliative care across the UK, including ways to improve knowledge and awareness of children's palliative care across the sector.
