I am Head of Services at Vitality Homes (recovery living centres). My Fellowship was about how the USA treats its addicted military veterans who have a dual diagnosis with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). My aim was to put the issue of addiction recovery high on the agenda for the British Government via the minister for veteran affairs, hoping that this would lead to seamless and specialist services here in the UK.

My father, my grandfather and my partner were veterans and have all had varying levels of mental health and dependency issues. I wrote and delivered the treatment programme for the UK's first specialist UK addiction treatment centre for military veterans. Undertaking the Fellowship has led to me being invited to speak at many conferences and asked to advise organisations and consortiums on how to set up specific recovery models for addicted military veterans.

The Fellowship gave me an incredible experience that holds great prestige whilst also enabling me to support communities, organisations, individuals and specialist services across the UK and the USA.
