Biography
I'm an art psychotherapist, documentary film-maker and researcher at the University of Roehampton, London. My Fellowship concerns men's mental health and suicide prevention, with travel to North America to scope out innovative men's mental health services and best practices. I intend to find out about creative ways of working and how to develop projects that enable men – and anyone who identifies as male – to learn from one another.
In light of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement, I am keen to find out about inclusive in-person as well as digital ways of engagement and to open up spaces for multiple narratives of masculinity to emerge. As an art therapist I am passionate about how visual and participatory methods can creatively engage men in life-sustaining activities.
My hope is that insights from the Fellowship will contribute to the transformation of men's mental health and wellbeing in the UK. It is an enormous honour and privilege to be awarded this Fellowship and to work with and alongside other men, and to learn from them at various stages and phases in their journey towards living fuller lives.
