I am now retired but at the time of my Fellowship I was the Programme Lead for Therapies and Day Services at Princess Alice Hospice, Esher.

The aim of my Fellowship was to explore ways to increase access for people with life-limiting illnesses by modifying out-patient activities and understanding the different ways allied health professionals could be involved. I was passionate about inclusion and variety in out-patient services to enable as many people as possible to access and benefit from the services. I also explored the role of informal carers and how they could be educated to care for their loved ones towards the end of their lives.

I presented findings to local and national bodies and as a result a wider variety of services are now provided. In addition, and partly due to necessity because of the Covid-19 pandemic, my findings relating to online access have been implemented across many services. Carer education services have also been put in place. More people are now accessing out-patient end-of-life services and in a way that better meets their needs.

It was a huge privilege to be awarded and undertake my Fellowship. It was an experience I will never forget.
