Biography

I am an architect and Founder of CARD Projects (Collaboration, Agency, Research, Design), a socially minded architecture and engagement studio. The focus of my Fellowship is to research inclusive play across different countries including Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. Having researched inclusive play spaces and developed design research guidance with the Architecture Foundation Young Trustees, I would like to build on this work.

I am hoping learn from best practice elsewhere to promote inclusive practice design processes to improve the access to play spaces in the UK, particularly public play spaces. Currently nearly three-quarters of UK playgrounds are places where it would be difficult for disabled and non-disabled children to play together. I would like to make a difference for young people from disabled backgrounds, to give them the opportunity to play with different groups, and to improve equitable affordable access to play through policy influence, awareness of issues and promotion of best practice.
