Biography

I am a speech and language therapist working as a clinical specialist within the NHS, and also in independent practice supporting children and adults with speech and language difficulties, associated physical airway issues and eating and drinking difficulties.

My Fellowship An International Journey to Bring Myofunctional Therapy to the UK has allowed me to travel to the USA and in the future to Brazil. I chose both countries because they are international leaders in research and translate findings directly into healthcare practice. Research has shown how the impact of undiagnosed tongue-tie can structurally cause a narrowing of the palate, affecting teeth alignment and also functionally affecting sleep, breathing, eating and drinking, speech and posture.

My Fellowship journey aims to place oral structural difficulties associated with tongue-tie on a wider health agenda to inform and strengthen clinical care in the NHS, improving health outcomes for children and adults. So far my journey has taken me across the USA and digitally across the world to learn from and collaborate with incredible clinicians across disciplines, forming amazing friendships. Back home my journey has created a buzz of interest.
