Biography
I'm a general practitioner and academic fellow at the University of Edinburgh, where I combine clinical work with research into how health and social care can better support marginalised communities. I'm particularly motivated to improve care for people facing intersecting social and structural challenges (such as homelessness, domestic violence, mental health, substance use and justice system involvement) who often struggle to access the support they need through mainstream services.
My Fellowship will take me to Australia, Denmark and Finland to explore how different health systems deliver joined-up, community-based care for people with multiple long-term conditions and complex social needs.
I aim to understand what works in these countries and how similar models could be adapted to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities here in the UK. I hope my findings will shape more equitable and holistic approaches to integrated care and help influence future policy, research and service design. I plan to share what I learn widely, through academic work, talks and community engagement.
