Biography
I am a former journalist, broadcaster and, before retirement, a director of Government News Network (East), working during the 1992-2005 governments, including a spell at 10 Downing Street.
Since retirement I have concentrated on my original interest, which is East Anglia's links with eastern states of the USA and Canada 1587-1700.
My published works include Women in the New World: Nine Narratives of Those Who Helped to Make America (2019) and The Man and the Island: Sir Robert Farquhar, First British Governor of Mauritius, 1810-1823 (2010). I have also written various books on Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket. I am currently researching Eliza Pilfold-Porcher for a biography with the working title The Road from Newmarket, Suffolk to Salt Lake City, Utah.
