Biography

I am a consultant psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer. I specialise in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

My 2009 Fellowship was in the field of prevention and treatment of traumatic stress injuries, awarded when I was a serving naval officer working in the Defence Mental Health Service. I spent 21 years in the military both in the UK and combat zones abroad including Iraq and Afghanistan. I continue to work in the field of traumatic stress, particularly inEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which is an NHS- and World Health Organisation-recommended treatment for PTSD.

I believe my Fellowship helped develop my speciality in the treatment of PTSD and traumatic stress injuries. I went on to have several articles published in peer-reviewed journals on both EMDR and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and have presented at international conferences. I am now a senior EMDR Europe accredited trainer and President-Elect for the EMDR Association UK, which is a charity with over 4,000 trained EMDR mental health professionals in its membership.

I am thankful for the opportunities, confidence and connections that the Fellowship gave me in the area of PTSD.
