Biography

I am a partner in our family farm and diversified rural business in Suffolk. Alongside farming, I am involved in property, retail and business development, with a particular interest in how businesses make important decisions and plan for the future.

My Fellowship will explore why some rural businesses continue to move forward under pressure while others become stuck. I am interested in how responsibility is shared, how decisions are made, and how businesses maintain direction when circumstances become challenging. This project has grown from my own experience within a family business and from working with other rural businesses facing similar challenges. I have seen that good people and good opportunities can be held back when roles are unclear or important decisions are delayed.

I will travel to Japan and Germany to learn from businesses and advisers operating in different environments. My aim is to bring back practical ideas that help rural businesses make better decisions earlier and build greater resilience for the future.
