Biography
I am now in my 85th year, and fully retired.
I was a Churchill Fellow in 1982 and as a veterinary surgeon I wanted to study difficult birth in cattle and how it was treated in Scandinavian and European countries. I had heard that regulations in some countries prevented compromise of animal welfare at the assisted birth of cattle. I visited veterinary clinics in Copenhagen, Oslo, Ghent, Hannover, Holland and Belgium. I spent just under a week in each clinic, observing staff and student teaching and learned a great deal not available in books.
My Fellowship was of great value and I learned a great deal and made useful contacts.
Three years later I published my book Handbook of Veterinary Obstetrics, which was translated into several languages.
