Biography

I am an associate professor of forensic science, specialising in the forensic investigation of firearm-related crime.

My Fellowship focused on learning about the latest technologies and practices for detecting, investigating and prosecuting firearm crimes, meeting with and shadowing criminal justice professionals and technology companies based in South Africa, the USA and France.

Since returning from my travels, I have shared my findings with UK and international criminal justice practitioners, academics, researchers, students and the wider public. Such activities have included speaking at invited meetings, guest lectures, webinars, public events, writing blog posts and creating a podcast. I organised a criminal justice conference with other Fellows and have been undertaking collaborative research with the National Ballistics Intelligence Service to enhance awareness, practice, efficiency and effectiveness of UK firearm investigations.

The Fellowship has been a life-changing experience, providing essential knowledge and experiences that have already started to benefit practitioners and the professional development of my students.
