Biography
I am the Co-Founder of Bon Volks. Bon Volks is a non-profit arts organisation, operating in the spirit of common care and collective organising, providing affordable workspace to creative practitioners. We work in our neighbourhood, acting as a central organising force to bring about positive change and encouraging stewardship of the ecological systems around us. In 2023, I began the Circular Margate project, which aims to reimagine materials as social assets, through their diversion to community projects and their use in education, skills learning and employment.
The focus of my Fellowship is to gather information on how circular economy principles and systems are being embedded in neighbourhoods in Belgium and the Netherlands, with a particular focus on whether these systems and projects are realising their potential as diverse economies - those which are seen not through the lens of market-orientated profitability, but through social desirability. This research will inform how we set up and deliver a Materials Hub in Margate, maintaining a focus on the social transformation to be achieved through material redistribution.
