Biography
I travelled to Japan for my Fellowship, a few months after competing in the Atlanta Olympic Games, exploring judo for the non-elite. The aim was to consider ways of making judo enjoyable for those who are not necessarily wanting to compete, to make it attractive to people with different ambitions, abilities and circumstances – understanding judo for life.
I was able to apply some of the experience and knowledge that I gained when I was Chair of British Judo's Masters Commission. Our aim was to build opportunities and enjoyment for people doing judo aged 30 and over.
Now well into my fifties, I work as a financial adviser, and continue to enjoy practising judo and supporting my local club. I am Vice President of British Judo and love to see how we can continue to build participation from all backgrounds.
