Biography

I worked for over 30 years in higher education and local government on business development and project management. My key skills are income generation through successful funding applications, partnership working, business and community outreach, marketing and market research.

My Fellowship in 2010 was to research barriers to entrepreneurial venturing among older people. I visited universities and other organisations in several US cities where research was being conducted into this topic. The research found that many people needed to supplement their retirement income by continuing to work, usually self-employed. This requires an attitude and a skill set that I hoped to clarify in the handbook I produced. This handbook was widely disseminated electronically in 2011.

My Fellowship was another stage in a working life that had been about enabling individuals, communities and businesses to improve their education, knowledge and skills to maximise their own potential and to optimise the services they provide for others.
