Biography

I am a textile designer based in Devon with a passion for British wool, sustainable design, and local production. My Fellowship will explore how successful wool enterprises in the Netherlands create value from local materials while supporting farmers, makers, and regional economies.

Building on my previous work sourcing and creating textiles from British wool, I want to better understand how wool can be transformed from an undervalued by-product into a desirable and economically viable material. I am motivated by a belief that the things we make and use every day can strengthen connections between people, place, and the environment.

I hope to learn how stronger relationships between agriculture, design, manufacturing, and local communities can create more resilient economies. I will use this learning to develop a wool-based enterprise in Devon that supports local farmers, regional production, and more sustainable supply chains. Ultimately, I want to help reconnect people with the materials around them and demonstrate how local production can contribute to stronger, more sustainable communities.
