I'm a wildlife film-maker and science communicator living in Bristol. My Fellowship aims to explore environmental justice and how community projects can help to mobilise people to engage in local climate issues.
As a film-maker, I want to know whether we can empower people to share their unique perspectives in the climate crisis by teaching them storytelling and film-making skills. I'm particularly interested in spotlighting the efforts of women, as research has shown women commonly face higher risks and greater burdens from the impacts of climate change in situations of poverty.
I also hope that by including social justice issues, we can make the environmental movement more diverse by using a more intersectional approach. I'm excited to explore community projects around the world which tie in issues such as food security and housing and how these relate to a changing climate. My findings from the Fellowship will further drive my work in film-making and documenting diverse stories and climate activists, as well as inspire local community projects here in the UK.
