Biography
I'm a third-generation care-experienced mum of three. I work as a project worker with The Care Leavers' Association and am passionate about activism and creating change. I also advocate specifically for older care-experienced people. My Fellowship focuses on exploring trauma-informed support for care-experienced parents to prevent unnecessary child removals and help them understand how their own trauma may affect their parenting journey.
Having successfully broken the cycle of care in my family, I have had no social work involvement as a parent for over 16 years. I was a kinship carer to my little brother and have opened my home to support other young people without social work involvement. With over 20 years' experience mentoring in community youth and gangs projects, I am driven to improve outcomes for care-experienced people, especially parents. I aim to learn from international approaches and bring back practical, trauma-informed support solutions to help care-experienced families stay together and thrive.
