Suicide Bereavement UK’s 14th International Conference - Sharon McDonnell
Join Fellow and Founder of Suicide Bereavement UK Sharon McDonnell at the 14th Suicide Bereavement Conference. The event will feature global experts and cover topics such as suicide prevention, bereavement, and self-harm. Sharon will present research on the impact of suicide on male and female prisoners in the UK. The event will also feature Fellows Nina Smith and Maria Roberts, who will present on global prevention programmes and best practices for working with those with lived experience, respectively.
Renegade Guides - Saira Niazi
Saira Niazi will share insights from her Renegade Guides Churchill Fellowship project at three upcoming events.
She will speak online at the Walk Listen Café on 23rd September, give an author talk and Q&A at John Harvard Library on 25th September, and participate in a Q&A with Stefano Battaglia at Walworth Library on 3rd October.
Her talks explore the role of renegade guides, how tours are shaped, and ways to preserve stories of people and places at risk of being lost. All events are free, and books will be available to buy.
Association for Palliative Medicine Juniors Conference - Amara Nwosu
Amara Nwosu will deliver the keynote talk on Artificial Intelligence in Palliative Care at the Association for Palliative Medicine Juniors Conference.
Amara will discuss the outcomes of his Churchill Fellowship, provide an overview of his current research at Lancaster University, and share insights from the digital health and technology special interest forum he is co-leading. The talk will also cover practical considerations for palliative care trainees, including ethical issues and Amara’s national work with Hospice UK and Marie Curie UK.
Free Career Clarity Course - Erica Sosna
Churchill Fellow Erica Sosna, Careers Expert for Good Housekeeping and co-host of The Career Equation podcast, is running a free six-week Career Clarity Summer School with co-host Zoe Schofield. The course helps participants reflect on their career path, define their ideal work, and take action, drawing on 20 years of career coaching experience. Available now until 30 September.
Palliative Care: Fit for the Future? - Amara Nwosu
Amara Nwosu will be speaking at the Strathcarron Hospice Palliative Care Conference in Edinburgh on 1st-2nd October 2025. Amara will present on "AI in Palliative Care: Opportunities and Challenges", and discuss his collaborative work following his Churchill Fellowship. The conference is an excellent opportunity to network and explore current developments in the field of palliative care.
CORNWALLIS CLOTH - Tony Thompson
Tony Thompson will present CORNWALLIS CLOTH, a powerful new film installation reframing narratives of war and uncovering untold stories of British Caribbean lives during the Second World War. Opening on 11 October at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, the immersive work blends sound, performance, and archive to explore loyalty, freedom, and post-colonial identity.
TEDx St Albans - Sophia Alexandra Hall
Sophia Alexandra Hall will speak at TEDx St Albans on October 15 at The Alban Arena. Her talk will focus on how we can be more considerate news consumers and uncover the human stories behind the headlines. Drawing on her background as a journalist and someone with experience of care, Sophia will share insights from her Churchill Fellowship, encouraging us to read with care and think critically about the stories we consume.
From Soil to Soul - Joy O'Neill
Joy O’Neill FRSA will speak at the RSA South East Virtual Coffeehouse Autumn session on 17th October. In her talk, From Soil to Soul: Care Farming – Benefits for Farmers & the Rural Community, she will share insights from her 2020 Churchill Fellowship on care farming, exploring its benefits for care farmers, the rural economy, and local communities. The session will include reflections and discussion with Fellows on her research and next steps.
Global Summit on Economic Abuse - Nicola Sharp-Jeffs
Nicola Sharp-Jeffs, co-founder of the International Coalition Against Economic Abuse (IACEA), will speak at the virtual Global Summit on Economic Abuse, organised by IACEA in partnership with NO MORE. Nicola will join the panel Leading the Charge: Global Innovations to End Economic Abuse, sharing her insights and collaborative work to address economic abuse globally.
