Congratulations to teacher Michael Jones (CF 2015) who was announced as a winner at the International Climate Change Challenge Awards which was organised by the Saïd Business School (University of Oxford) on 1 December.

This summer Burjeel Holdings and Saïd Business School launched the Climate Change Challenge where they invited high school students and teachers from across the world to help tackle the climate crisis.

Teachers were asked to set the agenda in the classroom with lessons that raised awareness among students about the dangers of climate change, and encouraged them to think creatively about solving it.

Plus, Michael's school, Northfleet Technology College in Kent picked up the Zayed Sustainability Prize at the COP28 summit in Dubai. The school won the award for its beehive business. The beehives produce honey and wax which are then used for creating sustainable products.

The prize is worth £118,000 and the pupils aim to spend it taking mobile beehives around the UK to spread their message about sustainability. Find out more by visiting the BBC's website.
