Developing water-sports centres

London
I am a professional fundraising consultant.
My Fellowship was in a Sports theme and I travelled the world to visit like-minded sailing centres so that I could bring back best practice to AHOY water sports centre – a charity on the River Thames for disadvantaged and disabled young people.
I was AHOY's first employee with just a building and a couple of boats – within five years we had a fleet of over 100 boats and raised in excess of £4 million so that young people could have access to the River Thames.
Upon returning, I raised an additional £2 million before leaving AHOY for pastures new. I then started my own fundraising consultancy and over the last year I have returned to AHOY on a freelance basis to help them again in their fundraising efforts.
The Fellowship has meant so much to me. It enabled me to not only travel to places I've never been but also to learn so much about the water sports industry and bring back lots of best practice.
