Biography

I am a project manager and PhD student at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neurosciences, King's College London.

My Churchill Fellowship investigated service models in the USA designed to meet the needs of high-need, high-cost (HNHC) patients, often termed as 'superutilisers'. HNHC patients are small in number but account for a high proportion of healthcare expenditure. They tend to have complex social support needs, physical and mental ill health, and multi-morbidity. My interests lie in providing optimal person-centred care for people with addiction and complex needs.

I scanned international research and clinical practice, including new work published by The Commonwealth Fund, and became specifically interested in the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers. The purpose of the Fellowship was to expand our current thinking on services for complex needs, to source and link with existing evidence, and to facilitate and increase the pace of policy development in the UK.

My PhD aims to economically and qualitatively evaluate assertive outreach treatment for people who frequently attend hospital for alcohol-related reasons, as part of a wider clinical trial.
