Amongst other things, I am musical director of a choir for young voices, using the pyramid structure.

My Fellowship was based on music education through the voice, both in the classroom and in choirs. I wanted to gain greater understanding of voice-based education, and see how this could be incorporated into my classroom and choir work. During many years' teaching in various sectors, and through my involvement with The Voices Foundation and Sing for Pleasure, I had already explored these methods to a degree. I wanted to witness practitioners in Hungary and Canada, both countries internationally known for excellence in vocal education.

Following my Fellowship, I was co-leader of a project in Worcestershire to create choral pyramids. I also helped devise and deliver singing projects in numerous settings in the county, which included the training of others.

The Fellowship was very rewarding and inspiring for me, through which I have disseminated knowledge and skills to other teachers and choral leaders, both generalists and specialists, though there remains frustration that resistance exists, inhibiting sustainability.
