Biography

I am Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCOS).

My Fellowship was a study of male singing in the Baltic States. I spent six weeks travelling Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Finland, meeting and discussing male singing with a wide variety of people and organisations and learning about the extraordinary traditions that exist there. At the time I was a practising vocal leader with Northumberland Music Service, Sage Gateshead and various other organisations, and the Fellowship directly impacted on my work as well as introducing me to different approaches to encouraging male, and especially boys', singing. Since then I have held roles that also were influenced by my Fellowship, including with Sing Up, Voices Foundation and in my present role.

At NYCOS, we are committed to encouraging boys' singing. Working with the artistic director, we run various choirs and projects including three National Boys' Choirs.
