Biography

I am currently Executive Director of Anthropocene Alliance. My Fellowship was on farmers' markets. I was doing my master's degree at the University of London and was studying opportunities for organic farmers to sell directly to consumers. At the time, there were no farmers' markets in the UK. Through the Fellowship (a tour of farmers' markets across the USA) I was able to bring media attention to the opportunity. A film crew from BBC Countryfile joined me on my Fellowship, and I advised the people who set up the first market in Bath. Within several years there were hundreds of markets and it is now a vibrant movement.

I've always been interested in the power of community organising. I now live in the USA and direct Anthropocene Alliance, the nation's largest coalition of frontline communities fighting for climate and environmental justice.
