Biography
I am a director of a number of organisations that provide support in the delivery of community-involved routes to housing. These include Ecomotive Limited, Ashley Vale Action Group and SNUG Homes Limited. I'm very interested in housing that can be delivered in a different way, keeping the needs of the resident at the forefront, with a focus on community, creativity, affordability and sustainability.
The objective of my Fellowship was exploring housing projects that were primarily led by residents, with an added focus on smaller and tiny homes. My background includes the build of my own low-cost eco-home as part of a community housing project in Bristol. The benefits this gave me fired up my desire to help galvanise more projects along a similar line.
The Fellowship has helped to give me a much broader spread of knowledge of housing projects, and highlighted that housing need, and the desire for more connected places to live, is an international problem. I have pushed forward in the development of SNUG Homes, which is an off-site modular eco-housing method, where future residents and local community members can participate and skill up during the build.
