Biography
I am a theatre director, game designer and performance researcher.
My Fellowship explored possible overlaps of drama and game design, developing new methods of participatory performance that enable people to actively explore issues of concern in their lives.
My Fellowship has led to several game- and drama hybrid projects, including The Lowland Clearances, a piece about housing in London at Camden People's Theatre, and Nudge, a mixed-media project about online 'social credit' systems in China which was runner-up for Headlong Theatre's Digital Artist Award. Most recently, I have designed a role-playing board game, Green Gold, about European forest policy, in collaboration with Fern, a Brussels-based environmental pressure group advocating for forest restoration.
In addition to my artistic work, I have undertaken academic research on the transformative potential of play, completing a practice-led PhD at Newcastle University in 2019. I am currently employed as Senior Research Fellow in Participatory Arts at De Montfort University, working on Talent 25, a long-term project investigating the impact of playful creative interventions in the early lives of children in Leicester.
