I am a theatre-maker, participation producer, dramaturg and facilitator from north London. I often create theatre with and for young people and their communities, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, as well as working on international collaborations.
In 2011, I was working on a youth theatre project in my home borough of Haringey when the London riots began in the area. Young people's voices often went unheard in the London-wide discussions which followed, talking about what had happened and what communities needed next. These young people were finding a powerful, positive space to amplify their voices and explore how they would like their community to be through theatre. My Fellowship was a journey to find more innovative ways for young people to engage with social issues they care about through theatre and I found ideas in abundance in New York City.
After my Fellowship, I became Senior Co-ordinator for Inclusion at Shakespeare Schools Festival, which enables thousands of young people to perform on professional stages. I now work with Punchdrunk Enrichment, creating adventurous immersive experiences for young people, aiming to inspire learning and curiosity.
