Biography
My Fellowship in 1994 was for studying teenage pregnancy and working with young mothers. I was the project manager of a Young Women's Project in Norfolk at the time and was also involved in the National Strategy for Teenage Pregnancy when the UK had the highest level in Europe.
I went on to be involved in setting up a development trust and was then its Director of Children and Families, leading on the delivery of a Sure Start programme providing services to 3,500 children under the age of five. I was awarded an MBE for this work and our Sure Start programme received an Ofsted report rating it as Outstanding, which made our team was so proud.
I now have a new career as director of my own company, a shop called Hoos, in Glasgow. I am involved with my local business community, I employ four talented graduates and my business is growing and successful.
My Fellowship was an amazing experience and gave me the confidence and knowledge to use in my work with vulnerable children and families.
