Biography
I am now retired. The purpose of my Fellowship in 1967 was to gain international insight and experience of educational trends in all aspects of hospitality education and training. At that time, the industry in the UK was in a period of growth, new technologies were emerging, and as a lecturer it was important to keep fully up to date to meet the future needs of the industry.
The Fellowship enabled me to obtain broader perspectives at different levels of education, from junior college to university. Later, while working with the industry's training board and later with the Hospitality Awarding Body, I was involved in the launch of the competency-based NVQ system of awards in the UK, writing and delivering training programmes to underpin the assessment and verification process.
Later, I worked within the social care sector. Through Fellowship networks, I met other Fellows, which resulted in a suite of dementia and the arts programmes for social care staff.
The Churchill Fellowship changed my professional life and I will always be proud and grateful to be a Fellow.
