Biography
I am Managing Director at Wardrop Consulting and visiting research fellow, Business School, Edinburgh Napier University.
I have worked in economic development, destination leadership, development and management, business support, branding and promotion, and events development and management for over 30 years. My roles included: founding Chief Executive of the Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance Ltd (the place marketing body for Scotland's capital); Head of Economic Development with the City of Edinburgh Council; and the Tourism and Marketing Manager with Stirling Council.
In 2008, I was appointed as a visiting research fellow with the Business School at Edinburgh Napier University and I undertake research and am an associate lecturer in this capacity. Since 2011 I have successfully operated my own economic development and tourism consultancy, gaining significant international experience and knowledge in destination leadership, development, management and promotion with consultancy assignments in the UK, the Gulf and east Asia. I have a highly developed understanding of the functioning of the Scottish visitor economy.
