My Fellowship allowed me to visit a number of independent and public television stations in the United States. I was looking at the different ways in which they served their local communities and on my return I worked with the commercial network ATV and the Independent Broadcasting Authority to create a framework for public service announcements (PSAs), which gave local voluntary organisations a platform to explain their services and ask for volunteers. This initiative was subsequently copied by many ITV stations.

I went on to have a career in television production, most recently in children's television, and have now retired.
