Biography
As the owner and Director of Sona Pilates Limited, I offer online pilates and movement instruction that makes every day easier and leaves you feeling longer, taller, stronger and happier. I created the business over three years ago, with my love for movement and teaching at the heart of it.
My Fellowship in 2009 explored dance education in Australia and New Zealand – their curriculum, strategy and execution in all school years and beyond. I was inspired by the priority they gave to the arts and dance, and brought this learning back to my then-current role as Head of Dance and Community Practitioner in Cambridgeshire. It further fuelled my strong beliefs that 'dance is for everyone', and that our culture needed to ensure that we continue to embrace it but also plan for its future place in schools. It went on to inspire my tireless pursuit of delivering dance to all and developing community arts events in subsequent teaching and leadership roles. One, in particular, was a community arts picnic in both schools I taught in that involved the whole school in a day of arts performance and provision and provided workshops, experiences and free performances for the whole community.
