Biography

I've been the Head of Learning at Stagecoach Performing Arts Worldwide since 2017. Prior to that I was a music specialist and senior leader in schools in challenging circumstances in London.

The focus of my Fellowship in 1997 was on the role of the music subject specialist in primary schools – this was because my passion then, as it is now, is about widening the reach of access to high-quality arts education. 'Non-specialist' class teachers can, and will, teach music with the right expectations, resources and support, as I learnt on my Fellowship.

Following my travels I was so fortunate to be trained with the Voices Foundation as an advisory teacher and was able to work in some of the most challenged schools in Slough and London through this role with school leaders, class teachers and music co-ordinators, and then as an Advanced Skills Teacher supporting schools in Special Measures in the London Borough of Brent.

The Fellowship has enhanced my own growth immeasurably and has given me the platform to facilitate the learning of others in incredible ways – not just in singing and music, but joy in building a love of new challenges and embracing change for good.
