I am a chartered engineer and businesswoman, the Director of Obatec, an IT consultancy business. I have worked as an engineering consultant in the industry, working on infrastructure and systems integration and strategy for many years. In recent years I have been involved with the construction industry as a Building Information Modelling (digital innovation) expert. One of my passions is to see more women working in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) industry.
As a Churchill Fellow in 2009, I travelled to the USA, Australia and India to look at how businesses recruited, retained and promoted women in the STEM industry.
I am a STEM ambassador and have been a National Science and Engineering judge and moderator since 2009. I am the chief judge for the Big Bang competition, London and south-east regions, since 2015.
I was a council member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), where I was the chair of the Current and Future Strategy Committee. I was also the chair of the Karen Burt Award committee for BCS – The Chartered Institute of IT, and was a director and secretary-general of the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES).
