I work as a highways key route network manager.
The main topics of my Fellowship were roads, resilience, weather and emergency services. My Fellowship was to examine the approach to winter resilience in North America and Europe to determine how we in the UK could enhance our mature approach.
Working in the highways, traffic and transport sector in the UK, I have a professional and personal interest in wanting to improve how we manage the six months of the year that are likely to cause the most disruption to our transport system. As a result of this I continue to work with multiple partners towards implementing six recommendations from my report, which has been very well received in my sector.
My Churchill Fellowship has informed my approach to winter, particularly in the region where I work, and has triggered a review into our winter service. It was a significant moment in my career and transformed my thinking. It has also provided me with a wide network of professionals across the world that have remained in contact since my travels.
