Biography

My Fellowship in 2001 (Interagency Collaboration – Police and Mental Health Services) supported the development of an Appropriate Adult (AA) Service in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. After completing my Fellowship, I worked nationally as Secretary of the National Appropriate Adult Network (NAAN), which became a charity and third sector organisation by submitting a business plan to the Home Office. The Home Office agreed funding for several years and this developed and delivered training to increase standards in the role of the AA nationally. I organised several national conferences and NAAN is still in existence.

I went on to work for a private company, with forensic doctors and nurses around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight helping people detained in custody and survivors of rape and serious sexual assault.

My last role was in the NHS, developing and managing the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sexual Assault Referral Centre in 2006-2012, working with the police, local authority, NHS colleagues and other colleagues from the third and private sectors, aiming to provide improved services to survivors of rape and sexual assault, as well as working to improve services nationally.
