Biography

I am the founder and principal of a logistics company that, since its foundation in 2000, acts like a mini-Amazon: picking and packing orders on behalf of scores of companies that prefer not to have their own fulfilment activities.

My Fellowship topic was a comparative analysis of logistics challenges and solutions in the maritime provinces of Canada and Scotland.

After a stint in London, I moved to Canada in 1987 and after a brief time in Ontario, moved to British Columbia where I started my own consulting business in 1990. The unique challenges studied in these maritime regions, including cost and service barriers for remote and isolated communities, are not dissimilar to much of the rest of Canada which is 32 times the size of the UK but with a population of just under 40 million. I believe the hi-tech solutions that we offer through 'i to i logistics' help our clients reach their customers in an efficient and cost-effective manner, improving the lives of those living in remote communities.

Having married in Scotland, my wife and I raised three wonderful children in Vancouver, two of them having returned to the UK to further their international experiences and careers.
