Biography

I am retired now, but I worked as a consultant child and adolescent psychotherapist in Gloucestershire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAHMS). Following a Fellowship in 1998 to look at infant mental health projects in the USA, this became my main interest.

For many years I worked with children's centres as Clinical Lead of Secure Start, providing an infant mental health service. I was also involved with the Intensive Care Baby Unit at Gloucester Royal Hospital as well as supervising health visitors. I am Chair of the Peter Lang Children's Trust, a charity that supports voluntary sector initiatives helping parents and children from conception to age three, within Gloucestershire.

When the charity Parent Infant Partnership (PIP UK) was being established, I was initially a trustee and later became Clinical Director, helping to set up and then support infant mental health teams across the country for over five years. I continue to teach and supervise in this field of work.
