Biography
I work for a community-interest company called Wild Roots Creative. I am joint founder and director of this social enterprise, which offers craft and conservation for positive mental health. We work with traditional and nature-based crafts, working to keep traditional crafts and our heritage alive.
My Fellowship focused on how indigenous knowledge was used in eco-tourism, and environmental education in protected landscapes. I felt indigenous knowledge and our heritage can teach us much when it comes to living sustainable lives in balance with nature. This is something I feel passionate about and have been able to apply throughout my career as a National Park Ranger.
I have recently moved on from this role to form a community-interest company which specialises in connecting people to the environment and their heritage through crafts and conservation, offering positive benefits for mental health through creative activity and connection to nature. As a result, adults and children from all walks of life have benefited from varied and creative activity. We are currently expanding our business to become a training centre, providing courses in crafts and conservation.
